It's that time of the year!

Ireland's been shedding a lot lately. The amount of hair on the picture is what came off of her, after I brushed her for 2 minutes! Brushing definitely helps to speed up the shedding process but if you don't like vacuuming every day, don't get a husky!

I wonder if the weather here in Northern California will affect the shedding frequency and/or process. Last year, when we were living in Cincinnati, Ireland started shedding about a month earlier. It lasted for about 6-8 weeks, if I remember correctly. Cincinnati might have a hotter, more humid summer but Northern California has warm temperatures year around.

Oh yes... tis the season. Does your human walk by you and pluck your fur? Mine walks around and sings, "Oh, it's plucking season" and then will nab a tuft of my fur! Sigh, the things we go through.
Hugs,
Sitka

Ireland,
Can we see a picture of you doing a crotch-punch?

Ireland, you could almost knit another dog out of your spare fur. I even found a lady who would do that for you.

My bassett friend, Sousa (as in John Bassett Sousa, kin to the John Philip Sousas), tells me that the fur shedding is just his way of spreading his love around and letting people take it with them as a happy reminder wherever they go. He may be short of leg, but he has a lot of love. A LOT of love.

I second the request for a picture of the crotch punch.

Ireland's crotch-punches are hard to capture. She is sneaky, like a ninja.

Ireland,
I'm dog deprived. Can we just see some pictures of you playing - maybe with some other dog friends?
